Ages and Stages First Entry

When coming across an article about Canonical perspective my mind wandered to all of the pictures I have drawn throughout my childhood.  Canonical perspective has always interested me now that I have thought about it.  Why do people think of objects from the front facing or the logo side of the view instead of an overhead view.  For example, to the right we have what majority of people would draw when asked to draw a mug.  Personally, I have never thought about drawing and object from an overhead view because I recognize certain objects by the logo or certain look it pertains.
